PRO TIPS

1. Optimize Placement for Cooling and Serviceability

When mounting your JayCee Billet Oil Manifold, position it in a location that balances airflow and ease of maintenance. Many builders mount the manifold in the rear wheel well or on the frame horn. While these are great for keeping the filter away from engine heat, ensure the lines are routed away from the exhaust system. If you must route lines near the heater boxes or headers, use thermal fire-sleeving to prevent the oil from picking up extra heat before it even reaches the engine. Always mount the manifold so the filter is easily accessible for mess-free oil changes.

2. Use High-Quality Braided Lines

The JayCee manifold is designed for high-flow #8 AN fittings, and your oil lines should match that performance. We strongly recommend using high-quality stainless steel or nylon braided AN lines. Avoid using cheap rubber "push-on" hoses with worm-gear clamps for full-flow systems. The oil pressure in a performance VW engine can spike significantly when the oil is cold, and a burst line can lead to catastrophic engine failure in seconds. The included O-ring fittings on the JayCee manifold provide a superior seal compared to NPT threads, so do not use Teflon tape on the AN fitting side.

3. Prime the System Before Initial Startup

Whenever you install a new remote manifold and filter, you are adding a significant amount of volume to your oiling system that is currently filled with air. Before firing up the engine for the first time, fill the oil filter with fresh oil as much as possible before spinning it onto the manifold. Additionally, we recommend pulling the spark plugs and cranking the engine over until you see oil pressure register on your gauge. This ensures that the new lines and the JayCee manifold are fully charged with oil, preventing a "dry start" that could damage your rod and main bearings.
