OVERVIEW
When you are deep into a custom chassis build or fabricating a high-performance roll cage for your air-cooled beast, versatility is just as important as structural integrity. The Latest Rage 1-1/2 inch Tubing Connector with a .120 wall thickness is the professional fabricator''s secret weapon for creating a modular, removable system without sacrificing the sleek, "built-to-last" aesthetic. Whether you are building a Baja Bug that needs a removable rear engine cage for quick maintenance or a sand rail that requires detachable light bars and tire carriers, these connectors provide a rock-solid junction. Unlike bulky slip-fit sleeves or cumbersome flange plates, this connector offers a streamlined, low-profile finish that keeps your cage looking clean and professional while providing the massive strength required for off-road abuse.
Engineered for maximum durability, this specific model features a non-interlocking design with both high-grade bolts situated on the same side. This configuration is particularly advantageous in tight clearance areas where access to the back side of the tubing is limited, allowing you to secure or remove the section with ease from a single orientation. Crafted from high-quality steel and designed to match standard 1.5-inch OD tubing with a heavy-duty .120 wall, this connector ensures that your structural points remain rigid. It is the ideal solution for anyone who has ever struggled to pull a VW engine because the rear cage was in the waysimply unbolt the section, slide it out, and get to work. Don''t compromise the safety of your build with inferior hardware; choose the connector that the pros at Appletree Auto trust for their own desert-tearing machines.

PRO TIPS
Tip 1: Prep for Maximum Penetration. Before welding these connectors into your 1.5-inch tubing, ensure you bevel the edges of your tubing significantly. Because these connectors are solid steel at the junction, you want to create a deep "V" groove for your weld bead to sit in. This ensures that the weld penetrates both the thin-walled tubing and the thick body of the connector, creating a bond that is actually stronger than the tube itself. Always clean the raw steel with a degreaser or acetone to remove any shipping oils before you strike an arc.
Tip 2: Manage the Heat to Avoid Distortion. When welding the connector halves into your chassis tubes, it is highly recommended to keep the two halves bolted together. This acts as a heat sink and ensures that the internal threads and the alignment of the bolt holes do not warp or shift during the cooling process. Tack weld the connector in four places around the circumference, let it cool slightly, and then finish your beads in alternating quarters to distribute the thermal expansion evenly. If you weld the whole thing in one pass without the other half bolted in, you might find it difficult to get the bolts through later.
Tip 3: Anti-Seize is Your Best Friend. Since these connectors are often used on off-road vehicles exposed to dust, mud, and moisture, always apply a small amount of high-quality nickel or copper anti-seize to the threads of the socket head bolts before final assembly. There is nothing worse than needing to pull your engine at the campsite only to find that your cage bolts have rusted or galling has occurred. Taking ten seconds to prep the threads during your initial build will save you hours of frustration and broken extractors down the road.
