Finish and Maintenance Note

This system is sold as a "Raw" exhaust. The black coating found on the header pipes is a temporary paint applied at the factory to prevent rust during warehouse storage and transit. This coating is not a permanent finish and will burn off once the engine reaches operating temperature. For a lasting aesthetic, many users choose to strip this coating and apply high-heat paint or ceramic coating.

Tip 1: Manage the Initial Burn-Off: Because the black storage paint is designed to burn off, it will produce smoke and a distinct odor during the first 15 to 30 minutes of engine operation. We recommend performing the first heat cycle in a well-ventilated area or outdoors to avoid filling your garage with smoke.

Tip 2: Prevent Corrosion: Since the header is raw steel, it is susceptible to surface rust if left unprotected. For the best results, sand down the storage paint and apply a high-quality VHT (Very High Temperature) exhaust paint or have the tubes ceramic coated before installation to extend the life of the system.

Tip 3: Inspect Gaskets and Hardware: To ensure a leak-free seal at the heads, always use fresh exhaust gaskets during installation. Check the torque on your header nuts after the first few heat cycles, as the metal will expand and contract, which can occasionally cause hardware to settle or loosen.
