Tip 1: Protect the Raw Steel Finish. This exhaust system arrives in raw steel. The black coating found on the pipes is a temporary layer used to prevent rust during storage and transit only. For a long-lasting finish, you should strip the storage paint and apply a high-quality, high-heat ceramic coating or header paint before installation to prevent corrosion.

Tip 2: Ensure Proper Flange Alignment. When installing the J-pipes and muffler, start all bolts by hand and keep them loose until the entire system is positioned. Tightening the 3-bolt flange before the head bolts can lead to alignment issues and potential exhaust leaks. Once everything is seated correctly, torque the hardware from the heads outward to the muffler.

Tip 3: Use High Quality Gaskets. To ensure a leak-free seal, we recommend using high-quality copper exhaust gaskets at the cylinder heads.
