1. Precision Measuring is Mandatory

Since these are uncut pushrods, you must use an adjustable pushrod tool to determine your exact required length. Do not guess. Set your engine to mid-lift on the camshaft and adjust the tool until the rocker arm adjuster is in a straight line with the valve stem. 2. Professional Cutting and Deburring

When it comes time to cut your 4130 chromoly tubes, avoid using a standard hacksaw which can leave a jagged, uneven edge. Use a high-quality tubing cutter for a perfectly square break, or a dedicated chop saw with a fine-tooth blade. After cutting, it is critical to deburr the inside and outside edges of the tube. Any metal shavings left inside the pushrod can find their way into your oiling system and destroy your bearings. Clean the tubes thoroughly with brake cleaner and compressed air before pressing the tips into place.

3. Check Your Tube Clearance

Because these JayCee pushrods feature a 3/8-inch diametersignificantly larger than the stock 5/16-inch unitsinternal clearance within the pushrod tubes can become an issue, especially with high-ratio rockers. Always "dry fit" the valvetrain and rotate the engine by hand to check for any rubbing between the pushrod and the pushrod tube.
